Beat the Heat

With Temperatures soaring into the upper 90's this week, we wanted to give you some tips to help you keep cool.

Active Life Chiropractic is committed to helping you stay cool when the summer gets hot!  If you're lucky enough to have AC in your home, that's great and we envy you!  For the rest of us, here's a few tips to try...

Tips:
1: STAY HYDRATED!! The biggest favor you can do for yourself is to drink plenty of water to avoid heat exhaustion and dehydration. Shoot for drinking a minimum of 8 8oz glasses of water every day
2:  Choose Cotton and other breathable fabrics for clothing and bedding
3: Use a fan to push hot air out the window in the evening while another fan blows cooler air in through another window.
4: Place a cool, damp cloth across the back of your neck to cool your skin, and blood.  If the cloth warms up, simply take it off and wave it in the air to reactivate the coolness.
5: Create your own swamp cooler by watching this video and following the directions!

Don't forget about your 4 legged companions
!
Make sure they have ready, easy access to clean, fresh water.
Consider draping them with a moist towel to help cool them as well!
If you have a hose, use it to spritz them with water (cats, typically do not like this)
If you're going out running errands, leave your pet(s) home unless you can take them inside the store with you!
Remember that concrete and pavement gets really hot and can burn the pads of dogs and cats paws as easily as your own feet.

Enjoy the summer weather while it lasts!
